Will editing change my document’s layout?
No. The editor patches your original .docx instead of rebuilding it. Paragraphs you don’t touch are saved byte-for-byte, so headers, footers, styles, page setup, comments, floating shapes and embedded objects stay exactly as they were. Objects the editor can’t change (shapes, fields, footnote marks) appear as small chips and are preserved.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
Never. Opening, editing and exporting all happen in your browser. The file is not sent to a server, and a local backup is kept on your device only so you can restore a session after an accidental close.
What can I edit?
Text and formatting (font, size, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, super/subscript, colour, highlight), paragraph styles and headings, alignment, indents and spacing, bulleted and numbered lists, tables (add or remove rows and columns, shading), images (insert, resize, remove), hyperlinks, page breaks and special characters. Find & replace works across the whole document.
Can I export to PDF?
Yes. Download as DOCX, PDF (laid out with the same engine as our Word to PDF tool), plain text, Markdown or HTML. There is no watermark and no sign-up.
Which files are supported?
Modern Word documents (.docx, .docm, .dotx). Older binary .doc files should be saved as .docx in Word first. You can also start a new blank document.
